Korean automobile exports were buoyant in the first half of the year despite a soaring won, while domestic car
sales are also poised to escape from a slump, the industry says.

Carmakers Hyundai, Kia, GM Daewoo, Ssangyong and Renault-Samsung said Friday they sold a total of 2.55
million units in the first half, up 17.3 percent on-year. Exports increased 24 percent to 1.97 million units, but
domestic sales dwindled 2.5 percent to 528,000.
