This year's Korean auto sales worldwide are expected to exceed 5 million units for the first time on rising
exports.

According to data provided by Hyundai Motor Co., Kia Motors Corp., GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Co., Renault
Samsung Motors Co. and Ssangyong Motor Co., the five domestic manufacturers' combined sales at home and abroad
neared 4.7 million cars in the 11 months to November.

Their overseas sales surged 20 percent to almost 3.7 million cars compared to a year ago.

Annual sales of Korean-made cars broke the 3 million mark in 1999 and 4 million last year.

Separately, sales of foreign cars here during the 11-month period also jumped 30 percent year-on-year to 27,090
units. The number of newly registered import cars in November soared 58 percent to 3,187 units from a year ago,
breaking a monthly sales record.

"Sales of import cars already exceeded the earlier forecast of 26,500 units thanks to diverse promotions by each
car marques," said Yoon Dae-sung, an executive at the Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association.
