SEOUL, Oct. 2 (Yonhap) -- Ssangyong Motor Co. on Thursday said it has unveiled its new concept sport utility vehicles (SUVs) such as the XIV-Air and XIV-Adventure at this year's Paris Motor Show. The local unit of Indian SUV maker Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said the two concept models give a definitive glimpse of how the all-new X100 production car will look when it reaches consumers in early 2015. It said the cars represent the last versions of the carmaker's eXciting user-Interface Vehicle (XIV) series that it has been showing off at motor shows since 2011. The X100 is expected to slot under the popular Korando C range of SUVs in the Ssangyong corporate lineup and have a 1.6-liter engine that meets stringent Euro 6 emissions standards. The Korando C, in comparison, has a 2L diesel engine. The XIV-Air, which has a Targa-style open roof, and the XIV-Adventure, which has a more rugged appearance, are both 4,195 millimeters long from bumper-to-bumper and have a wheelbase of 2,600mm, the company said. The concept vehicles have a raked back, stylish two-bulb headlamp modules with LED light pipes, and a heavily sculptured lower fascia and an upright greenhouse. The XIV-Adventure also has blacked-out A and B pillars that give it a sleek appearance. The company said the cars are roughly the same size as the Chevrolet Trax made by GM Korea Co. and Renault Samsung Motors Co.'s QM3 crossovers. Once the X100 is released, Ssangyong will be able to compete effectively in the global small-size crossover market that has witnessed sharp growth in recent years.
