SEOUL, April 1 (Yonhap) -- Ssangyong Motor Co., the local unit of Indian auto giant Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said Friday that its March sales inched up 1.1 percent on-year as strong demand here more than offset a sharp decline in overseas markets.
Ssangyong Motor sold 13,010 units last month, compared with 12,870 units a year earlier, the company said in a press release. The figure does not include complete knockdown kits that are assembled abroad.
Overseas shipments plunged 23.5 percent on-year to 3,941 units last month, but domestic sales jumped 17.5 percent to 9,069 units over the cited period, helped by the continued popularity of the Tivoli crossover SUV.
Ssangyong Motor sold a cumulative 33,666 cars during the January-March period, up 2.7 percent from a year earlier.
