EOUL, Aug. 11 (Yonhap) -- Five G4 Rexton sports utility vehicles (SUVs) made by SsangYong Motor Co. left Beijing for Europe Friday as a part of the carmaker's marketing efforts to showcase the ruggedness and reliability of the vehicle. 

Under the project, the SUVs with off-road capabilities will be driven some 3,469 kilometers to eventually arrive in Frankfurt, Germany. 

During their trip, the SUVs will pass through Kazakhstan, Russia, Lithuania and Poland, the South Korean unit of India Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said. 

"The journey will become an opportunity for the company to promote the G4 Rexton's performance ahead of its global release," the automaker said. 

SsangYong plans to unveil the G4 Rexton in Europe on Sept. 12.
