SEOUL, Aug. 1 (Yonhap) -- SsangYong Motor Co. said Wednesday its sales rose 11 percent last month from a year earlier due to robust sales of its mainstay sport utility vehicles.
SsangYong Motor sold 12,628 vehicles in July, up from 11,413 units a year earlier, the company said in a statement.
Domestic sales rose 14 percent to 9,823 units last month from 8,658 a year earlier. Exports climbed 12 percent to 3,093 units from 2,755 during the same period, it said.
In the January-July period, however, the maker of the flagship G4 Rexton and Rexton Sports sport utility vehicles sold a combined 79,576 vehicles, down 2.7 percent from 81,758 a year earlier, the company said.
Indian carmaker Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. owns a 72.85 percent stake in SsangYong Motor.
