SEOUL, Dec. 3 (Yonhap) -- SsangYong Motor Co. said Monday its sales rose 7.8 percent last month from a year earlier on robust domestic sales.

SsangYong Motor sold 13,030 vehicles in November, up from 12,082 units a year earlier, helped by strong local demand for the Rexton Sports SUV, the company said in a statement.

Domestic sales jumped 18 percent to 10,330 units in November from 8,769 a year earlier. But exports fell 14 percent to 2,844 units from 3,313 during the same period, it said.

From January through November, the maker of the flagship G4 Rexton and compact Tivoli SUVs sold a combined 127,818 vehicles, down 1.3 percent from 129,477 a year earlier, the company said.

Indian carmaker Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. owns a 72.85 percent stake in SsangYong Motor.
