By Choi Kyong-ae INCHEON, South Korea, Feb. 27 (Yonhap) -- SsangYong Motor Co.'s all-new Korando is a suitable choice for urban drivers looking for sport-utility vehicle (SUV) form factor without having to compromise driving characteristics and fuel economy. The diesel-powered compact crossover is full-change model of the Korando C launched eight years ago. Its relatively good fuel efficiency, safety features and acceptable prices make it a solid option for every day commuting as well as drives on rougher terrain. In a 92-kilometer course that took one and a half hours to complete in Incheon, just west of Seoul, the all-wheel-drive tester, with a 1.6-liter diesel engine and a six-speed automatic transmission, performed as expected in acceleration, braking, noise and cabin comfort. Given the sticker price and characteristics of rivals in this segment, SsangYong's latest offering has strengths that make up for any shortcomings.
